Duration of Revelation

Unlike my previous blog which may been slightly lengthy, here is one simple, short and straightforward point I would like all Ahmadis to consider. Before we get to the point I would like everyone to consider the duration of revelation in reference to the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW). He (SAW) left this worldly life at the age of 62 in the year 632CE and we all agree and know as fact that he received revelation when he (SAW) was 40. Therefore the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) received revelation from Allah (SWT) for the duration of 22 years. In contrast, how long did Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, as you believe, receive revelation for? This would obviously depend on when it began.

“Ahmad (as) was in Lahore in 1876 when he had a dream from which he concluded that the time of the death of his father had approached… The next day… it was revealed to him by God in Arabic that his father would die after sunset the same day.” The Life of Ahmad, Page 65 by A.R. Dard

“… the thought passed through my mind as to what was to happen after his death… perhaps there would now come days of poverty and pain… the second revelation came “Is not God all-sufficient for His servant?”" The Life of Ahmad, Page 66 by A.R. Dard

Therefore, we can all agree that he received ‘revelation’ in the year 1876. For the sake of argument in the comments section later, I will consider a different year which no doubt clears the fact of when revelation began and refutes any rebuttal that I should consider Prophetic/Mission revelation in regards to Mirza Ghulam Ahmad. Thus, I present the following quote from the year 1892 (the book cover verifies this date).

“Now, let it be clear, that I was commanded, through a specific revelation, to call the people to Allah, in the fortieth year of my life… out of which ten full years have already passed.” The Heavenly Sign, Page 27-28 by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad

Therefore if 10 years of his prophetic revelation have passed in 1892, this means it began in 1882. Now let’s consider both years to determine the duration of his revelation. If he received revelation in 1876 or 1882 and died in 1908 this means he received revelation for 32 or 26 years, correct? Now consider his follow statement in which he is addressing Muslims who have not accepted his claim and he criticises them regarding the second coming of Hazrat Isa (AS) in the following sense:

“You also believe that he will be a Prophet and that he will continue to receive Prophetic revelation for forty years, and this will thus surpass the period of the Holy Prophet’s (SA) Prophethood. Such a belief is undoubtedly sinful.” A Misconception Removed, Page 3 by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad

The Point

According to Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, surpassing the duration of the Holy Prophet Muhammad’s (SAW) revelation is a belief which is “undoubtedly sinful”. We have no doubt the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) received revelation for 22 blessed years. Mirza Ghulam Ahmad however, professes he received ‘Prophetic/Mission’ revelation for at least 26 years according to the quote from his book ‘the Heavenly Sign’ or he received revelation for 32 years if we conclude that it began when his father died in 1876. Either way, it surpasses the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and “such a belief is undoubtedly sinful.” So please explain to me how you are carrying forward this sinful belief today, tomorrow and till the day you die?

I must stress, we do not make such blogs to ridicule or mock your current beliefs. We only make them to awaken and create the spark for you to investigate further as Allah (SWT) only helps those whom help themselves and as a result Allah (SWT) may show you the door, as a result of your further investigation, to which you have to open so that you may return to the beauty that is Islam. We do not open the door for you, you do that yourself. All we are asking is for reflection. If Mirza Ghulam Ahmad was truthful, why do you find yourself, unsuccessfully, patching up his every other belief every other day?

Yalesh: The god of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad

While I was engaged upon the compilation of this book, I received the revelation (Urdu): Yalesh – is the name of God Himself. This is a new word which is not found in this form in the Quran or hadith or in any dictionary. It has been disclosed to me that it connotes ya la shareek (O Thou without an associate).

Tohfa Golarviyya, p.69, footnote

Let’s humour the Qadianis for a while, shall we? Let’s imagine for a moment that this was a real revelation to a real prophet.

  1. Why was this name not revealed to the Last Prophet, Muhammad (saw)?
  2. Since when can an Arabic name be constructed in this way? Especially with the calling tool “ya” being incorporated into the amalgamated resultant mess? The calling tool “ya” simply cannot be used in this way as part of a proper name in Arabic.
  3. Why is the translation so deceptive? After all, “ya la shareek” means quite simply “Oh no associate”. If you wanted to say “Oh Thou without an associate” you would say ““ya man la shareek lahu” in Arabic.
  4. Never mind the nonsense “yalesh” or “yalash” or “yalaash”, why does the expression “ya la shareek” never appear in any Arabic text in history? Could it be because it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever?
  5. The names of Allah are part of the Islamic lexicon. No new names would have been revealed after the demise of the Last Prophet Muhammad (saw). This new name is proof that Qadianism is a new religion.
