بسم الله الحمد لله و صلاة و سلام على رسول الله و على آله و سلم

With literature explicitly geared towards Muslims, it is no secret that the Ahmadi faith is primarily interested in spreading its beliefs amongst Muslims. However, it is unlikely that their beliefs will spread in the North American context. This is for many reasons. Here is a short analysis of why not and my prediction of the direction their community will take.

Ibn Khaldun, the 8th century-Hijri social scientist, observed that when the socio-economic status of an area is depressed, Islamic intellectual thought tends to suffer. While only 28% of Americans have post-high school degrees, roughly 60% of American-Muslims have college or masters degrees, making American Muslims one of the most educated communities in the country. And following Ibn Khaldun’s observation, this has led to the rise of effective Islamic institutions in the US (which I commented on here). These programs tend to be energetic, enriching and serve both the intellectual and spiritual needs of Muslims.

This has a strong effect on Ahmadi youth. First, those raised in the US are disconnected from the day-to-day struggles of Pakistan. The stock hatred levied by their leadership against the ‘mullahs’ for their ignorance (and I do not deny that there is much ignorance) fails to characterize the Islamic authorities they encounter in the West. As a result, rhetoric that otherwise works so effectively falls upon deaf ears. When Western Ahmadis experience Islamic scholarship for the first time, many question what they have been taught about Muslim leaders, some question Ahmadi-specific doctrines, and yet others the legitimacy of Ahmadiyya all together.

Ahmadiyya is largely stagnant in the US. Yes, from time to time individuals convert, but there is no exodus from Islam to Ahmadiyya, relegating Ahmadis to live as a minority within a minority.

Islamic institutions have essentially crowded out Ahmadi-based ones. Muslim Students’ Associations across the country are dominated by mainstream Muslims and the scattered Shi’a populations tend to conform to Sunni norms. Major events, such as lectures, social activities, and Jumu’ah prayers, and iftars are entirely Islamic, not Ahmadi. National Islamic spokesmen tend to be from CAIR, or MAS (Muslim American Society). Both Congressman Keith Ellison and Congressman Andre Carson (may Allah bless them both) are within the fold of mainstream Islam. And key social figures representing Islam in popular culture, such as Shaquille O’Neal, Siraj Wahhaj, Tariq Ramadan, Malcolm X and others, adhere to mainstream Islam, not Ahmadiyya.

So where does this leave Ahmadiyya? A few predictions:

I predict that it will exist as a faith largely in antagonism to a Muslim community. For example, despite the fact that CAIR has managed an anti-terrorism campaign for over a decade and even released a 68-page document highlighting 10 years of fatawa (religious edicts) and condemnation of terrorism, an Ahmadi spokesman appeared on Fox News to say that CAIR was “appeasing the terrorists” and that only Ahmadis were “taking the lead” in the effort against terrorism. In more recent weeks, the entire Muslim community joined together to financially and morally support the Cordoba Initiative’s plan to build an Islamic Community center in New York City. But, an Ahmadi spokesman has condemned the project, while highlighting his own faith.

Secondly, I predict that their members will slowly but surely be re-absorbed back into the fold of Islam. Undeniably there are many who are theologically convinced of Ahmadi-specific beliefs. But even historically, the vast majority of members of any faith, including Islam, have only concentrated on the essentials. The logical gymnastics required to justify key Ahmadi beliefs are all but apparent without social conditioning. And the lack of an ominous campaign of oppression against them, will allow them to get comfortable with their Muslim neighbors, colleagues and friends. Therefore, with time Ahmadis will only culturally maintain their Ahmadi identity, while their beliefs will entirely conform to Islam. With marriages, education and time, they will re-assimilate back into the Muslim community.

The last prediction runs contrary to the second. I predict that they will take an Ismaili-approach. Historically, the Batiniyya, a now defunct sub-sect of Ismaili Shi’ism, were so active that they conquered Makkah and spread their faith in the Muslim lands. It took Salah al-Din al-Ayubi to expel them from Egypt and Imam al-Ghazali to refute their theological positions. Nowadays, Ismailism exists as a highly organized and wealthy but inviable religious order that is isolated, inclusive and unable to propagate its beliefs – and guess what, they still think they’re the “True Muslims”! This is precisely what many break-away sects have become, and I predict that Ahmadiyya will follow the sunnah of the ones that came before it.

Again, merely my predictions. Allah knows best.

In this Holy month of Ramadan, we ask Allah to continue to guide Ahmadis from the false beliefs of Mirza Ghulam to the true beliefs of the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم.

و صلى الله على سيدنا محمد و على آله و سلم

بسم الله الحمد لله و صلاة و سلام على رسول الله و على آله و سلم تسليما

Allah says in the Qur’an:

إِنَّ اللَّهَ وَمَلَائِكَتَهُ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا صَلُّوا عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُوا تَسْلِيمًا

Allah and His angels send blessings on the Prophet: O you who believe! Send blessings on him, and salute him with all respect.

This verse has come to us many times, but do we reflect on its power? Consider the following…

The universe is massive. Massive beyond all comprehension, beyond the normal scales of human understanding. When astronomers measure distance, they do not use kilometers or miles. Instead, they use light years: the distance a beam of light travels in a year. This distance is estimated to be 9,461 billion kilometers (5,879 billion miles). No, not a million, a billion.

Using that unit of measurement, realize that there are some stars millions of light years away. There are some stars that are a billion light years away. And there are yet others that are billions of billions of light years away. Allah has informed us that he has adorned the lowest heavens with “lamps”- all of the stars, planets and galaxies we see are mere beautifications of the lowest of the seven heavens.

With that in mind, consider this. If the entire first heaven when compared to the size of the second heaven would be like an insignificant ring in a vast desert. Meaning, the size of the second heaven is thousands of times larger. But it does not end there. The second heaven compared to the third heaven is also like a ring in a desert. And the third compared to the fourth, and fifth, and sixth up to the seventh heaven! Our minds are utterly incapacitated at the sheer size- layers of vastness!

And our Noble Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم has informed us that the heavens are ready to crack open for there is not a spot in the seven heavens more than the distance of a hand-span where there is not an angel standing, bowing or prostrating to Allah. They completely fill up the heavens! Can you imagine how many there are? This must be what the mathematicians refer to when they say “approaching infinity”.

Now we come back to the Ayah. All of these countless Angels are constantly (المضارع) in a state of beseeching Allah to send blessings and peace [Durood Shareef] upon Sayydina Muhammad ibn Abdullah صلى الله عليه و على آله و صحبه و سلم تسليما كثيرا. The rank, status and honor of the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم is beyond comprehension!

Yet, there are people, now and in the past, who are ignorant of this fact and attempt to put down the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم. They serve only to debase themselves. But, what is even more ludicrous are those who posit that their own rank, honor and status is equal to or even comparable to that of the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه سلم. For anyone who believes in him, this is truly an inconceivable claim.

But, this is exactly what Mirza Ghulam did. In this pamphlet “A Misconception Removed“, he has the audacity to say that there is not even “the slightest degree of estrangement” between him and the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم. He uses this as a springboard to declare that through the medium “Zill” (an invented concept), he had become Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم. He explicitly writes:

It was twenty years ago, in Brahin-e-Ahmadiyya, that God named me ‘Muhammad’ and ‘Ahmad’ and declared me to be the Holy Prophet [Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم].
- Page 12

He further writes “I am Muhammad“, and implicitly says that there is absolutely no degree of separation between him and the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم. In other words, he is declaring himself to be so high that he has reached the status of the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم. This extreme veneration is further echoed in the Ahmadi-specific commentary of Surah Baqarah, where their official doctrine declares Mirza Ghulam to be the “second coming” of the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم, akin to the Hindu belief of Avatar (no, not the dumb movie).

To this I must sincerely ask my Ahmadi readers, do you really believe that Mirza Ghulam reached the status of the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم? Do you think he reached such a rank that the countless angels are making Salawat [Durood Shareef] upon him at all times? Do you really believe in the concept of the ‘second-coming’ of the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم? Do you believe he became Muhammad? We seek refuge in Allah from such an audacious claim.

I expect the following responses:
A) His attainment of the rank of the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم was spiritual, not literal. To this, I retort that it was not only his spiritual rank, but his manners, way of walking, talking and even the way he looked by which Allah honored him and the Angels pray upon him. One cannot separate his “spiritual rank” from his entire sense of being. Mirza defined “Zill” as not even the “slightest degree of estrangement”. This means everything, down to where he lived, who he married, and how he ate. But, did Mirza even perform Hajj? That itself is a degree of estrangement!

B) This attainment was what the Sufis call Fana’ fi al-Rasool (obliteration in the Prophet). The Sufi concept of Fana’ is understood to be something chased after, but ultimately unattainable. Rather, the pursuit itself is the ends. If anyone would have reached this station, it would have been Abu Bakr al-Saddiq رضى الله عنه, the best friend of the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم and whose daughter married the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم. He physically resembled the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم such that the Ansar mistook them upon his arrival in Madinah and he even died at the same age (63). But, he was Amir al-Mu’mineen Abu Bakr, not the Messenger of Allah Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم. Had it been anyone, it would have been Abu Bakr, but he never uttered “I am Muhammad”.

No, Mirza Ghulam held no such rank. He was not our Master صلى الله عليه سلم, he was a misguided man from rural Punjab. May Allah guide our Ahmadi readers away from the false path of Mirza Ghulam and to the path of our Master Sayydina Muhammad ibn Abdullah صلى الله عليه و سلم.

و صلى الله على سيدنا محمد و على آله و صحبه و سلم

* * بسم الله الحمد الله و سلاة و سلام على رسول الله و على اله و سلم تسليم * *

The following is a dialog between a Muslim and an Ahmadi.

Ahmadi: Ahmadiyyat is a revivalist community
Muslim: What exactly do you mean by that?
Ahmadi: Think about it. As the Muslims of the world continue to go astray, we are the only Jamaat that is bringing them back to the pure teachings of Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa SAWS through the guidance of the Promised Messiah!
Muslim: So, in essence, you believe that Ahmadiyyat is removing all evils that have crept into the faith over the centuries and restoring it back to purity. Is that a good summary?
Ahmadi: In a nutshell, yes.
Muslim: That implies that Islam was originally absolutely pure, but was corrupted over time. Can we agree to that too?
Ahmadi: Of course! We Ahmadis believe that Islam was pure during the lifetime of Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa SAW.
Muslim: Then you would certainly agree that what the earliest Muslims believed was true.
Ahmadi: Yes. It was only these mullahs that corrupted Islam.
Muslim: I think it is safe to say that Islam was pure during the first few generations of the Muslims. Would you agree?
Ahmadi: Not necessarily. There could have been mullahs then too.
Muslim: Saydinaa Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم said the best generation of Muslims was his generation (the Sahaba), then the next generation (Tabi’een) and then the 3rd generation (Tabi’een al-Tabi’een). So, within the first three generations, Islam was pure. Can we agree on that?
Ahmadi: Can I see this Hadith?
Muslim: Sure! Its located in Sahih Bukhari here (http://www.usc.edu/schools/college/crcc/engagement/resources/texts/muslim/hadith/bukhari/048.sbt.html#003.048.819)
Ahmadi: Okay, so the earliest Muslims are upon the Truth. I agree. So what?
Muslim: You and I can endlessly debate on the main topics of debate between us without coming to a conclusion. You think you are right, and I will think I am right. But, if no conclusion is being reached, we should take a standard by which we can check our interpretations. And since the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم said that the best generations would be the earliest, let us see how they understood Islam. Make sense?
Ahmadi: That makes sense. But, we Ahmadis believe that Mirza Ghulam Ahmad was a prophet of Allah. So, anything a true prophet says is superior to that of a Sahabi or even the earliest generations, who were upon the true Islam. So, I will take his words first.
Muslim: But, that is assuming your own conclusion. I am questioning whether or not MGA was a prophet to begin with. By using his statements as proof, you are assuming he was true to prove that he was true. That’s circular reasoning. In logic, this is known as the Begging the Question fallacy.
Ahmadi: Fair point. Then I will quote you the hadith of Hazrat Aisha where she says khatam-un-nabiyyin does not mean the same thing as “no prophets after him”. That proves that we are right.
Muslim: You can quote that hadith, but I responded to that argument here (http://www.romanizedarabic.com/withlovetoahmadis/04%20Hadith%20of%20Aisha.htm). In short, the Murabbis told you a half truth, without explaining the full context. But, I was not referring to one-off out-of-context hadiths, I was referring to texts, letters and essays that documented what those coveted earliest Muslims actually believed. If Ahmadiyyat is reviving Islam to what Saydinaa Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم believed, then it logically follows that Ahmadiyyat must agree with those texts, letters and essays. Agreed?
Ahmadi: That makes sense. But, what other proof is there than the ahadith that I quote you?
Muslim: I can contest the references you provide, arguing that your references are half-truths or out of context. In fact, I believe all Ahmadi arguments are like this. People just don’t bother to double-check the Murabbis, just like with the Hadith of Aisha. You can reply to my contests, I can counter to them and so on and so forth. This can go on ad finitum without a conclusion reached. It turns into mere sophistry. As I said earlier, we need a standard.
Ahmadi: What then do you propose?
Muslim: I suggest we look at those texts that the earliest Muslims wrote. See what they said.
Ahmadi: Specifically?
Muslim: Let us see what Imam Abu Hanifah wrote. Would you agree?
Ahmadi: Why him?
Muslim: Because Abu Hanifah was part of the generation immediately after the Sahaba. He even met at least two of the Sahaba. And, Ahmadis officially recognize him as an authority in Theology and Law.
Ahmadi: Okay, let us use what he wrote.
Muslim: Abu Hanifah wrote a book on Theology titled “Fiqh al-Akbar”. It is available here: http://muslim-canada.org/fiqh.htm
Ahmadi: That is very long. What specifically are you referring to?
Muslim: Read the last point. Abu Hanifah wrote “the descent of Jesus (‘Isa), upon whom be peace, from the heavens is a reality”. Does this not show that our belief that he is alive and will return is the original position?
Ahmadi: It does. But, I could just metaphorically reinterpret that to conform to our beliefs.
Muslim: True. But, you also believe the finality of prophethood and death of ‘Esa عليه السلام are related beliefs. Abu Hanifah also said “Anyone who asks of this man (someone who claimed to be a prophet) the credentials of prophethood shall become an apostate (himself), for the Prophet of God صلى الله عليه و سلم has explicitly declared, ‘No prophet will come after me.’” This is from Manaqib al-Imam al-Azam Abi Hanifah.
Ahmadi: And were there others who also said this? Who Agreed with Abu Hanifah?
Muslim: Yes, many others. Actually, everyone. For example, Abu Ja’far al-Tahawi, a man from the 3rd generation of Muslims said this: “And that he is the seal of the prophets and the Imam of the godfearing and the most honoured of all the messengers and the beloved of the Lord of all the Worlds; Every claim to prophethood after Him is falsehood and deceit.”
Ahmadi: But, would not the return of Hazrat Jesus from the heavens make him the last prophet? That would contradict their beliefs.
Muslim: There is a hadith that there will be 124,000 prophets. We Muslims believe that ‘Esa عليه السلام is the prophet immediately before Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم. He is prophet #123,999. Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم is prophet #124,000. To be very verbose, we believe that anyone who claims to be prophet #124,001 is a liar, because Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم is the last one. But, because ‘Esa is from before (ie, #123,999) his return does not contradict in any way. The only way it could conflict is if the second coming of ‘Esa made him prophet #124,001, which it obviously does not.
Ahmadi: So, you are saying that the earliest Muslims believed that Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم was the last prophet, that ‘Esa عليه السلام is still alive, and that his return does not contradict the finality of prophethood…
Muslim: Exactly!
Ahmadi: Interesting…I will reflect on this.
Muslim: That is all I ask. May Allah guide us all to what is True.

May Allah guide my Ahmadi readers from the false teachings of Ahmadiyya, invented by Mirza Ghulam, to the Tue teachings of Islam taught by the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم.

* * و صلى الله عليه سيدنا محمد و على اله و سلم * *

We have been saying Qadianis pray for Pakistan’s destruction and expect it to happen every year. I myself have been a witness to Naseem Mahdi saying this every year — ‘Pakistan is gone in a year or two’. As such, every year that takes Pakistan from strength to strength must be a setback for the Qadiani Ahmadiyya. Mirza Mahmud Ahmad never wanted to leave India and it was only the violence in Punjab that made him flee a month before Partition.

Read and enjoy: this thinking does not occur in a vacuum in a peaceful community — the internal ‘chatter’ of the Ahmadiyya is very similar:

The Pakistani government and Taliban have a similar mentality, and it can prove to be very dangerous for the rest of the world, including the great nation we live in, the United States of America.

It is a well-known fact that Pakistan has nuclear weapons, and therefore I find that it is my duty as an American Muslim to warn all of my fellow Americans that we are in grave danger of another 9/11 if we don’t send our troops to Pakistan and put a just, democratic government into place. At this time, the Pakistani government is very supportive of the Taliban who are a group of violent oppressors that believe it is their duty to spread Islam by force.

God tells all Muslims in the Holy Quran that “there should be no compulsion in religion.” Chapter 2 Verse 257

Unfortunately, the Taliban and the government of Pakistan don’t understand this simple teaching of Islam, and I sincerely feel that this oppressive mindset will continue to allow the killing of thousands of innocent people of all faiths.

Before we allow the Taliban and Pakistan to gain further nuclear power, we must go into Pakistan and take away all of their weapons before we see a Hitler-like regime emerge, this time claiming that Muslims are superior to non-Muslims and wrongfully using Islam as a means of violence as done on 9/11.

To all my fellow Americans, all my Christian and Jewish friends, as well as Muslims, please write to your senator and representative, making them aware of the potential threat that the Taliban and the Pakistani government poses to the rest of us who desire to live in peaceful harmony. Please don’t take this matter lightly, as a Muslim, I clearly see the grave danger of the situation, and I ask for help from all those who are kind at heart.

God bless America and may God enable America to put an end to terrorism all around the world.

Jawwad Rushdi is a member of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community of York.

Official Response —

. . .

The author calls for an invasion of Pakistan to prevent “another 9/11″ and for a complete reconstruction of the Pakistani government under the auspices of the American government. The author also makes a soft comparison between the situation in Pakistan and the Nazi regime. These statements are not, nor have they ever been, representative of the position of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community considers these comparisons invalid and completely separates itself from such comparisons.

. . . .

The very muted Ahmadiyya response after the terrorist atrocities in Lahore have been commented on in many fora.

While the attack on the Ahmadiyya was a terrorist atrocity, and I condemn the perpetrators, it did not exist in a vacuum, or in a state of ‘silent suffering’. Please watch what the Ahmadiyya leadership said on Fox News earlier in May. Their position was factually incorrect as well as rhetorically inflammatory to all peace-loving Muslims:

http://bit.ly/biw7aP

While the terrorist attacks are deplorable, I really wish that in the current atmosphere in Pakistan, where the United States Army is attacking Pakistani soil almost every day, the Ahmadiyya can do better than to take indefensible positions based on false information, and do not use that to bash the vast mainstream Muslim community on the most anti-Muslim platform in the United States.

What happened in Lahore was an atrocity, but Nasim Mahdi’s campaign in the United States earlier in May was not silent suffering — not by a long shot!

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

I love books. I have always loved them. As a child, I would go to the children’s library alone and read for hours while other children were playing outside. For birthdays, I wanted books. I read voraciously. It’s a habit I have maintained. Although in times past my preference was for new books, when just the scent of a new book would delight me, more recently, I have developed a penchant for old books, second-hand books and rare books. It’s delightful to pick up a book on say, diabetes in hardback for one tenth of the new price, or an old novel by Kundera for less than a pound in an antique book-shop.

I recently came across a rather large collection of books in an unusual location. To my immense surprise, in that enormous pile, which I had browsed for over an hour, I found some text whose contents at first glance seemed almost familiar. The text was old, the book almost falling apart, but the sense of excitement was enormous. And that wasn’t the only book. There were more like it. I was almost giddy with excitement. This find was stunning and unexpected. I alerted my good friend AkberC and shared the news.

To cut a long story short, AkberC, who knows much more about the history of Ahmadiyya than I do, and in particular, has been in the mind of Mirza (and just about emerged sane after the harrowing experience), realised that I had hit a gold mine. We set to work on preserving the books, copying and digitising the rare old pieces.

That long effort of organising the various bits and pieces has resulted in something of a coup: The availability of some authentic, early and contemporaneous English translations of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad’s pamphlets to the Ahmadis and Muslims openly, for the first time perhaps in almost a century, at the Q Archives Wiki

One has to ask, why if these books were available in English so long ago, have they been ignored, indeed, suppressed by the Ahmadiyya for so long? It’s simple. The Ahmadiyya is a cult. They don’t want people to know the reality of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad and his true nature. Their ambition is to keep those who know about the truth of Mirza’s disgraceful character and his cult continually engaged in useless debates that will end up in wasted time. We at TheCult.info won’t fall for that. This is why we’re not bothered that Ahmadis don’t in general join in debate at the forum. The Ahmadis also know that more damage is being done to their cult through a lot of work on this blog. The exposure effort is now widespread, shared by a network of people and sites around the world, is getting organised and the cult is squirming.

The truth is simple and two-fold. The first reason these authentic books, already translated by the Ahmadiyya near the beginning of the movement have been suppressed is because the Ahmadiyya can make no progress in Muslim countries – and the movement doesn’t want to present the embarrassing face of Mirza in English to the West, for fear they won’t be taken seriously by Westerners and written off as a fringe heretical sub-strand of Islam. This is potentially their outcome in any case, their best efforts as presenting as Muslims notwithstanding.

And the second reason is that now that the “power base” of Ahmadiyya is in the West, they don’t want their own youngsters reading the laughable rubbish of Mirza, revealing him to be a spiky huckster, selling ineffectual, alcohol-based quack remedies for plague that got banned by the British Government and a paranoid, finger-pointing hypocrite with no gentlemanly qualities at all, trying to defend his reputation as an Empire ass-kisser, first class with honours. If they see that for themselves, the ones with smarts will up and leave. Many already are. I know quite a few of them.

Frankly, the Ahmadiyya knows that this myth they’ve built around their messiah, the one who conned his followers out of what little money they had and started a religion business that his son took to the next papal level, is going to get shattered if the translations of Mirza’s English books ever get out. Well here they are and let the myth-shattering begin in earnest.

First, there is the pamphlet “My Attitude Towards the British Government”. It is embarrassing to read this crawling, finger pointing, schoolboy nonsense. On the first page alone, Mirza in a tone that makes the discerning reader cringe, sets out his father’s services to the British Government during the Rising of 1857. That he describes himself as coming from a “respectable family of the Punjab” is frankly crawling. He chronicles his family’s loyalty and “submission” to an occupying regime in a manner that is obsequious at best.

He then spends the second page setting up a strawman for jihad, describing it in terms that the enemies of Islam used. Mirza was late to this party. Decades before his arrival, there were plenty of `ulama who had already successfully debated with the Christian missionaries and defended Islam against the worst of their onslaughts. Mirza did very little, despite the canards to the contrary, some of which have even been spread unwittingly by some Muslims. In fact, as we shall see later, he damaged community relations.

He goes on and on ascribing preposterous positions to Muslims, making them as bad as Christian missionaries in their attacks on Islam by page 3. It is not just maulvis who he describes as waiting for the “atrocious character” of the Mahdi, but their followers too. It is only his cult that is spared the most vulgar characteristics, oddly enough.

Read for yourself and tell us if this is the “messiah” you were expecting…

My personal favourite is “A Revealed Cure for the Bubonic Plague”. I ask any Ahmadi this. Go to a lab, ask to be infected with plague and take Mirza’s alcohol-laden quack remedy. See how far that gets you. What a shame!

This “medicine” was actually banned by the Government when they found out what was going on and removed from the shelves. Check the ingredients of the “Divine Treacle”, mostly alcohol and sold at a huckster’s price.

Is this the “messiah” you were expecting?

Another thing to bear in mind is just how short these “books” are. As brother peacelover pointed out, Mirza wasn’t as prolific as many people think. In fact, you could describe him, as brother peacelover did, as a pamphleteer.

On this site, as a result of the work of a few people, you have seen Mirza’s “forgotten” prophecy, detailed in his booklet “A Warning to a Pretender to Divinity”. The Mirzologists had hoped they’d buried this. Sadly for them, we uncovered it and exposed it. Why? Because we want Ahmadis to rejoin the faith that was stolen from them and their forefathers. We want them to come back to Islam.

And then there is the “Kashf-ul-Ghita”, addressed to the Queen and the British Government. Again, the writing is not worthy of a noble man, never mind a “messiah” or “prophet”. You will also find familiar themes, “my family was noble”, “my followers are high class”, “I love the British Government and order my followers to do the same”, “That Batalvi guy is bad, ignore him” and so on and so forth. Some of the contents of this leaflet were used by devastating effect by brother Fuad. This pamphlet is a disgrace. It portrays Mirza Ghulam as a boy being picked on in the playground. He can’t handle it, so he runs crying to the teacher.

Finally, there is “The Message” or “A Cry of Pain”. I’ll let Ahmed summarise:

A booklet ‘Mothers of the Believers’ was published, which hurt the feelings of Muslim (similar to the modern-day cartoons of the Holy Prophet). A Muslim group (Anjuman Himayat Islam) blamed Mirza Ghulam Ahmad‘s vicious polemics against the Hindus as the root cause. In this booklet, the author is at his self-praising best, claiming to posess 10 qualities that any ‘defender of Islam’ should have. A portion of the original Urdu book is in Arabic, and an appendix lists all the books in the private library of Hakeem Nooruddin which the author declares that he was ‘blessed’ to have access to.

Of course, the Anjuman Himayat Islam were right, it was indeed Mirza’s “work in the community”, namely his vicious and quite disgusting string of polemics against Christians, Hindus and indeed Muslims too that caused such profoundly hateful responses.

Why has it taken a couple of Muslims, reverts from Ahmadiyya to Islam, to bring to the attention of the English-speaking world, several pamphlets translated into English from Mirza Ghulam Ahmad’s originals by the Ahmadyya themselves, some in his lifetime? When you ask yourself that question, you will arrive at a simple conclusion. Ahmadiyya is a cult and its founder was a huckster, a charlatan. More of his work now stands exposed to the English-reading world, no thanks to the Ahmadiyya, whose purpose is to avoid the character of the Fraud of Qadian.

There is more to come. Remember also, AkberC’s work in translating Mirza’s supposed “Magnum Opus” the Braheen-e-Ahmadiyya, a work that the Ahmadiyya has still not translated.

Yes Mr. Mirza, your message has been spread to the corners of the world, but not by you, not by Yalash, but by Muslims – and it isn’t going to help your cause one little bit.

Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani (MGAQ) claimed that he had received the following revelation from his God:

((The British Empire will last for eight years; thereafter there will be weakness, disturbance and decline)).

MGAQ did not publish this revelation in his books, however he had communicated it to some of his followers. The following narrations of this alleged revelation are mentioned in Seerat-ul-Mahdi and the “holy” Qadiani book, Tadhkirah:

Hafiz Hamid ‘Ali narrated to that Hadrat Sahib [the Promised Messiah] received the revelation: “The British Empire will last for eight years, thereafter there will be the days of weakness, and decline”.

Miyan ‘Abdullah of Sannour narrates that he remembers the following wording of the revelation: “The British Empire will last for seven years, thereafter will be disruption and decline”

Sahibzadah Pir Sirajul-Haqq Nu‘manira narrates that he has heard this revelation as following: “The power of the British will last for eight years, thereafter there will be the days of weakness, and decline”

Tadhkirah, edition 2009, page 1018. (Click Here)

The second Qadiani Khalifah, Mirza Mahmoud, also confirmed this alleged revelation; however he tried to defend it by claiming that MGAQ had received it in year 1892, and that the eight years had ended with the death of Queen Victoria on January 22, 1901.

((Hadrat Amirul-Mo’minin Khalifatul Masih II related in a Friday sermon: During the reign of Queen Victoria, God Almighty informed the Promised Messiah:

“The British Empire will last for eight years; thereafter there will be weakness, disturbance and decline”

These eight years ended with the death of Queen Victoria)) – Tadhkirah, Edition 2009, page 1017 (Click Here)

It is interesting to note that the Qadianis did not only accept Mirza Mahmoud’s laughable interpretation of this claimed revelation, but they also claimed that it is a proof that their self-declared prophet was a brave man. If he was not a brave man, he would not convey to his followers that the days of the British Empire had been numbered. The following is written in the official Ahmadiyya website alislam.org:

((On one occasion he received a revelation in Persian to the effect that the British Empire would last only for eight years and that thereafter a period of weakness and disorder and decline would set in. He communicated this revelation only to some members of his Movement. When Maulvi Muhammad Hussain Sahib of Batala, who was always in search for something on the basis of which he might be able to establish that the Promised Messiah, peace be on him, was disloyal to and a rebel against the British Government, learnt of this revelation from a member of the Movement, he at once wrote an article justifying his assertion that he was a rebel who desired to bring about the end of the British Government and Empire.

In any case, is it not surprising that a person who, according to his opponents, had been put up by the British Government should convey to his followers that the days of that Government had been numbered? Had he been put up by the British he would have propagated in support of the strength and permanence of the Government rather than make a prophecy that the Government would not last for much longer)) – Truth about Ahmadiyya, Chapter 2, Ahmadiyyat and the British (Click Here)

So, according to Qadianis, MGAQ was a brave and a truthful prophet! He had conveyed this revelation against the wish of the British Government. Really? Let us read what MGAQ had written about this revelation in December, 1898:

((Muhammad Hussein imputes to me the publication of prophecy that the British rule would see its fall and destruction within eight years. As to this charge I would say nothing but pray God to bring about the ruin of the calumniator. I never published such a prophecy.

The government may consult my writings. All my books are present in front of the government. I respectfully request that the Government should demand from this person about the book or letter or advertisement in which I have published such a revelation. And I expect that the present Government will remain aware of this deception of his, that this person may not come up with a plan — in support of his false statement – that out of my Jamaat and group, he should find some who, because of religious differences, harbour heart-felt enmity towards me and will provide false statements as evidence to be conveyed to the government. I do not mingle or meet with this person or others of his thinking that I would have ever said something verbally to them. Whatever I want to say, I publish in my books and advertisements, and these two are sufficient to know about my thoughts and my revelations and the respected elders of my Jamaat are witnesses to this. In short, I respectfully request that our high government should demand from this person about this intelligence report that is against the facts. Captain Douglas Sahib, former Deputy Commissioner of District Gurdaspur, in the case of Dr. Martin Clark that was instituted against me, has written that this person holds enmity against me and therefore does not at all refrain from lying)) – Rouhani Khazain, vol 14, p 216, Kashf-ul-Ghita, page 29 (Click Here).

Absurd! So, in front of his British masters, MGAQ had completely denied the receipt of such brave and fearless Yalaashi revelation.

Thanks to brother AkberC for the translation from Urdu to English. I would like also to thank brother Shahid Kamal who had sent me a scanned image of a Qadiani translation as well (Click Here).

بسم الله الحمد لله و صلاة و سلام على رسول الله

Christianity is largely an ‘anything-goes’ kind of religion, where as long as you believe ‘Esa bin Maryam, peace be upon him, died for your sins, you are a Christian. In terms of beliefs, there is no consistency between the denominations or even between individuals. Some outsiders tend to see Islam through the Christian ‘anything-goes’ lense. Specifically, Ahmadis are taught that Muslims as utterly disorganized, led by ignorant and violent-prone ‘ulema (scholars) and immersed in an array of sects and differences in belief. The objective reality is that traditional Islam bears a normative scholastic tradition of its beliefs, practices and spirituality that has stood the test of time for 1431 years.

We here in America are not void of this normative scholastic tradition. In fact, there are many organizations that teach the Deen to the masses. Allow me to introduce you to some of the bearers of this traditional Islamic dispensation in America and Canada:

Al-Maghrib Institute

The Al-Maghrib Institute is an Islamic educational institution dedicated to teaching Islam in an academic, professional and scholarly environment. Beyond the basics, they teach a variety of “higher level” Islamic topics, such as detailed Theological courses, History, Islamic Law, Principles of Qur’anic exegesis, Hadith studies and much more…

The objective is not to create scholars, but to increase the raise the standard of Islamic knowledge amongst American (including Canadian) Muslims. After completing a certain number of courses and passing the associated exams, students can earn certificates of completion.

Key teachers include Muhammad al-Shareef, Yaser Birjas, Yasir Qadhi, and Waleed Basyouni.
Here is a video-clip of a class teaching Salat al-Khawf (prayer of fear).

Zaytuna Institute / Zaytuna College

Founded by Shaykh Hamza Yusuf and Imam Zaid Shakir, the Zaytuna Institute puts the ‘tradition’ in ‘traditional’. Located in Berkeley California, this institution focuses primarily on Islamic Law, Theology and Arabic studies. Traveling classes at different Islamic centers work to improve family relations, morality, and increase societal welfare.

Zaytuna Institute recently formed Zaytuna College, a four-year accredited degree program. Zaytuna College boasts a unique bachelor’s program that combines critical analysis with memorization of the basic texts to form a vision for the next generation of Islamic leaders in the Americas.

Video clip of Zaytuna Institute (btw, I was present at this program!!)

Al-Madina Institute

The Al-Madina Institute is a traveling seminar-based program dedicated to increasing the love of the Prophet, prayers and peace be upon him, teaching reflections of the Qur’an and purifying hearts for an English-based audience. While paralleling Zaytuna’s style, this institute is less interested in training scholars and more interested in cleaning hearts and developing productive and positive individuals.

This institute hosts many prominent North American scholars, including Imam Mohamed Magid (who I personally know) and Shaykh Muhammad bin Yahya al-Ninowy.

Bayyinah Institute

Started by Brother Nouman Ali Khan in 2005, the Bayyinah Institute aims to be America’s premiere traditional Arabic studies program. The vision of this institute is to enrich American and Canadian Muslims with knowledge of Arabic, such that they can not only understand the Qur’an, they can gain a deep appreciation for the subtle beauties and intricacies in the divine text.

This institution recently formed the Bayyinah Dream program, a full-time Arabic and Islamic studies institution. They have also partnered with Al-Maghrib to serve as Al-Maghrib’s Arabic division.

Having taken dozens of Arabic courses, in my opinion, this is the absolute best one available!

Fawakih

The Fawakih Institute is an Institution dedicated to teach Arabic with a heavy emphasis on Islamic studies. They focus the primarily texts of Islam, the Qur’an and Hadith literature, to gain an appreciation for the divine and prophetic speech. This traveling institution offers many course, currently including The Divine Names, Exploring the Qur’an and Prophetic Eloquence.

I cannot comment on this institution yet, but I will be taking my first course in a few weeks!

Comments

These are many other programs and institutions, some as close as your local masjid. We want to encourage Ahmadis to attend these gatherings, if not for the knowledge and barakah (blessings), than just to see how we Muslims are rather than just being told we’re all “jahil mullahs”.

Some might say, “at least we Ahmadis do not have to pay for our classes”. That’s true, but we Muslims don’t pay Chanda, 6.25% of our pre-tax income to the Murabbis, something the Prophet, prayers and peace be upon him, never commanded us to do! And, the evening classes at most masjids are generally free of charge. All you need is a receptive heart!

In closing, I want to encourage my Ahmadi readers to come to our programs, our classes, our halaqas, and see for yourself what they are like! May Allah continue to guide Ahmadis away from Ahmadiyya and to Islam.

wa sallahu ‘ala saydina Muhammad wa ‘ala aalihi wa sallam

bismillah, alhumdu lillah wa Salaatu wa salaam ‘ala Rasool Allah

Recently, Fox News had an interview with Naseem Mahdi, Vice President of the Ahmadiyya community in the US, on his stance of terrorism. I want to personally praise Mr. Mahdi for his public condemnation of terrorism. This is one of the issues that Muslims and Ahmadis can unite over. The recent failed Time Square attack is yet another reminder that there are individuals who take irresponsible, unproductive and haraam actions in response to injustices in the Muslim world. I acknowledge that there are wrongs in the Muslim world, but murdering innocent people is never the answer. These people not only destroy the lives of their victims, they harm their cause and soil the name of Islam.

Having said that, there are a big problems with this interview.

Ahmadis “Broke the Silence”?

Condemnation of terrorism is not some new phenomena that only the Ahmadis have taken part in. Condemnation of terrorism is so ubiquitous in the American-Muslim community that its a wonder people could say Muslims “don’t do enough”. Frankly, I do not know what more we can do. I cannot attend a conference, program, lecture, talk, or halaqa without someone speaking out against terrorism. All mainstream Islamic organizations have condemned terrorism. Don’t believe me? Here’s a list:

Council of American-Islamic Relations’s (CAIR) condemnation of terrorism

Islamic Society of North America’s (ISNA) condemnation of terrorism

Islamic Circle of North America’s (ICNA) condemnation of terrorism

Fiqh Council of North America’s condemnation of terrorism

I’ve personally heard Shaykh Yaser Birjas, from the Al-Maghrib Institute, condemn terrorism

Shaykh Hamza Yusuf’s Zaytuna Institute (now Zaytuna College Alhumdu lillah!) has openly spoken against terrorism

Condemnation is not just domestic, its international. Whether or not you agree with Shaykh Muhammad ibn Sālih al-’Uthaymīn or Shaykh Bin Bāz, whose views are commonly labeled as “Wahabi”, they condemned Palestinian suicide bombings before it was even popular to do so. With all of that, its a wonder that Fox News could say that Mr. Mahdi has “broken the silence”, as if he is the first to ever do that.

CAIR is Not “Brave Enough”?

Perhaps the most frustrating part of the interview was the section on CAIR, which is the umbrella and advocacy organization of all Islamic organizations in the US. This organization literally runs an Anti-Terrorism Campaign that has been active for almost a decade. It has issued numerous Fatāwa against terrorism. Recently, prominent Muslim-American personalities including Jamal Badawi, Ihsan Bagdy, Altaf Husain, and Mohamed Magid released video messages condemning terrorism.

For Ahmadis, keep in mind that this is an organization that represents anyone who self-identifies himself as a Muslim. This mean that even if you are an open Ahmadi and you experience discrimination over your beard or hijab, their lawyers will help you.

To say that CAIR is not “brave enough” because they do not want to “offend the terrorists” is a cheap shot. It not only dismisses its years of efforts, it is extremely disrespectful and not from the character of the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم, who recognized the positives even in those whom he disagreed with. [See: Sulh al-Fudhūl] I see this as nothing more than an attempt by the Ahmadis to undermine the mainstream Muslim organizations in the US.

Who Represents the Muslims?

In 2008, MuslimMatters released an article on who represents Islam, commenting on the fact that news organizations rarely bring in mainstream Muslims. The few times that they do, the interviews are combative and argumentative. Instead, the media darlings are the likes of Irshad Manji, Tarek Fatah and Ayaan Hirsi Ali who most certainly do not represent mainstream Muslims. They always condemn the clearly-not-silent Muslim masses for being silent about extremism. We can add to that list a representative of the Ahmadi community who did exactly the same thing.

I want to close by once against genuinely praising Mr. Mahdi for his statements. While his statements about CAIR were reprehensible, but I think we can all agree on the general content of his message. Besides…when your average non-Muslim American sees this, they will associate that positive message with Islam, not Ahmadiyya. So, we win.

This post records the updated information mentioned in the latest edition of Ahmadiyya’s holy book TADHKIRAH about “Alam Kabab”, one of the failed prophecies of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani (MGAQ).

Who is Mrs. Ha Meem?

”Ha Meem” [حم] is the first verse in the following chapters of Quran: “Ghaafir”, “Fussilat”, “Ash-shooraa”, “Az-zukhruf”, “Ad-dukhaan”, “Al-Jaathiyah” and “Al-Ahqaaf”

[تلك آيات الكتاب المبين] is the second verse in the following Chapters of Quran: “Ash-shuara” and “Al-Qasas”. It is also part of the first verse of Surat “Yousuf”.

MGAQ claimed that he had received these two Quranic verses by revelation. He also claimed that the verse “Ha Meem” is an abbreviation of the name “Muhammadi Begum”. However Muhammadi Begum here is not the widow whom MGAQ should have married.

((April 1908: The wife of Miyan Manzur Muhammad who lived in the house of the Promised Messiah [as], is suffering from tuberculosis and the Promised Messiah [as] received the following revelation concerning her: “Ha Meem, These are the verses of the Book that makes (things) manifest” حم تلك آيات الكتاب المبين The word Ha Meem mentions the name of the patient briefly; the meanings of the other words are that there are many Signs in it which have been determined in the Book of God)) – Tadhkirah, Edition 2009, page 998 (Click Here)

Who is Alam Kabab?

In 1906, MGAQ prophesized that the pregnant Mrs. Ha Meem shall deliver a baby boy whose name is “Alam Kabab”.

((June 7, 1906: It has been conveyed to me by revelation that in the family of Miyan Manzur Muhammad, that is to Muhammadi Begum, a son will be born, who will have two names:

(1) Bashirud-Daulah (2) ‘Alam Kabab

Both of these names were revealed to me. My interpretation and understanding concerning these is as follows:

Bashirud-Daulah means that he would be a good augury for our glory and prosperity. After his birth (or after his achieving his discretion), the prophecy concerning the great earthquake and other prophecies will be fulfilled and a large number of people will turn to us and a great victory will be achieved.

‘Alam Kabab means that within a few months of his birth, or before he achieves his discretion, the world would be overtaken by a great calamity as if it was coming to an end. That is why that boy has been named ‘Alam Kabab. In short, this boy will be called Bashir-ud-Daulah as he will be a Sign of our glory and prosperity and he will be ‘Alam Kabab because he will be an example of the Judgment Day for our opponents)) – Tadhkirah, Edition 2009, page 831 (Click Here)

A Word and Two Girls

Do you know the difference between “A girl and two girls” and “A word and two girls”? The answer is there in Tadhkirah:

((June 7, 1906: Thereafter, it has been conveyed to me that this boy has two other names also: (1) Shadi Khan, as he will be a token of joy for this Community and (2) Kalimatullah Khan, because he will be a word of God. It has been so appointed from the beginning and will be fulfilled in this age. It is ordained that God will keep the mother of this boy alive till this prophecy is fulfilled. A previous revelation: [English] A word and two girls; refers to the same prophecy. Miyan Manzur Muhammad has two daughters and when the Kalimatullah will be born then the prophecy A word and two girls would be fulfilled)) – Tadhkirah, Edition 2009, page 832 (Click Here)

More Names for Mr. Alam Kabab

((June 19, 1906: The names of the son of Miyan Manzur Muhammad, who will be a Sign, have been conveyed by revelation of Allah are as follows: (1) Kalimatul-‘Aziz (2) Kalimatullah Khan (3) [English] Word (4) Bashirud-Daulah (5) Shadi Khan (6) ‘Alam Kabab (7) Nasirud-Din (8) Fatehud-Din (9) [Arabic] [This is a blessed day] )) – Tadhkirah, Edition 2009, page 836 (Click Here)

A Word and Three Girls!

In May, 1907, MGAQ wrote:

((Earlier, I had received the divine revelation that the earthquake that will be an example of the Judgment Day was imminent. The Sign appointed for it was that Muhammadi Begum, the wife of Pir Manzur Muhammad Ludhianavi will give birth to a son. Since that boy would be a Sign for the appearance of the earthquake, he would be named Bashirud-Daulah, indicating that he would be a good augury for our prosperity. Similarly, he would be named ‘Alam Kabab, indicating that if the people do not repent the world would be overtaken by great calamities. Similarly, he would be named Kalimatullah and Kalimatul ‘Aziz because he would be the Word of God that will appear at its due time. He will also bear other names.

Thereafter, I prayed that the appearance of this severe earthquake may be delayed somewhat. The revelation from Allah the Almighty mentions that supplication and then provides the response to it. As He has said: “Oh My Lord, postpone the time of this one. Allah has postponed it to a certain date“. That is, Allah has accepted this supplication and has postponed the earthquake to another time. This revelation was published in Badr and al-Hakam about four months ago. Since the earthquake—the example of Judgment Day—has been delayed, it was also necessary that the birth of the boy be also delayed. Accordingly, a daughter was born to Pir Manzur Muhammad on Tuesday, July 17, 1906. This is a Sign of the acceptance of the supplication and the truthfulness of the divine revelation that had been published four months before the daughter was born. However, earthquakes of a smaller magnitude must continue to occur, but it is imperative that the earthquake of the example of the Judgment Day be postponed till that boy is born. Bear in mind that it is a Sign of the mercy of Allah that by creating a daughter, He comforted us regarding the predicted affliction, that is, the earthquake of the example of the Judgment Day. It has been postponed in accordance with. If the boy had been born, there would have been great apprehension and fear at the occurrence of every earthquake in fear that the appointed time has come and the postponement would have not been believed. But now the postponement has been tied to the fulfillment of a condition)) – Tadhkirah, Edition 2009, page 870 (Click Here)

((In this respect Allah the Almighty has revealed to me that as happened during the time of Prophet Isaiah, that in accordance with the prophecy of that prophet, a woman named Alma bore a son. Afterwards the king Hezekiah gained victory over Pekah**. Similarly, before the earthquake, the wife of Pir Manzur Muhammad Ludhianavi whose name is Muhammadi Begum, will bear a son. That boy will be a precursor of the major earthquake which will be an example of the Day of Judgment. It is necessary that prior to that, minor earthquakes should take place. The boy will have the names as detailed below: Bashirud-Daulah—because he will be Sign of our victory; Kalimatullah Khan—that is, the Word of the Almighty Allah; ‘Alam Kabab; Word; Shadi Khan; Kalimatul-‘Aziz—because he would be the Word of God that will bring victory for the truth. All creation is the words of God. Therefore, naming someone Kalimatullah is not something unusual. That boy has not been born this time because Allah the Almighty has said: “Allah has postponed it to a certain date”. That is: The earthquake that will be an example of Judgment Day has been postponed)) – Tadhkirah, Edition 2009, page 876 (Click Here)

No Word but Three Girls

Jalal-ud-Din Shams wrote the following about Mrs. Ha Meem:

((Her name was Muhammadi Begum. She finally died on October 9, 1908)) – Tadhkirah, p998 footnote, Al Badr, vol. 7, no. 39, October 15, 1908, pp. 1–2 (Click Here)

Subhanallah! The boy Alam Kabab had failed to show up!
