The ‘Blessed Institution of Wassiyat’

What is Wassiyat?

The definition of Wassiyat as taken from the Ahmadiyya website here is as follows:

“Wassiyat is the making of a will in the favor of the Community, pledging 1/10 to 1/3 of one’s total assets to the Jamaat at the time of one’s death. A person who has pledged Wassiyat is known as a Moosi and must also donate 1/10 to 1/3 of his earnings yearly instead of chanda aam. This scheme was set up by the Promised Messiah under Divine Revelation. This is a voluntary pledge and carries other conditions with it.”

I’d like to share a letter sent out to all Ahmadiyya ‘Office Bearers’ in the UK:

Firstly, if Wassiyat is a voluntary type of chanda (as shown from the defintion above) then why are office bearers being threatened with removal if they don’t cough-up? Secondly, why must they “earn the prayers of Hudhur Aqdas by becoming Moosi”? Are the prayers of the Khalifa something to be bought and sold?

If this scheme was really set up under “Divine Revelation” then why aren’t office bearers already part of it. Indeed, why aren’t ALL Ahmedis part of the scheme of Wassiyat? Is it because deep-down they realise that it’s just another way the Ahmadiyya Movement is stealing their money?

Is this letter anything but clear evidence that this cult is nothing more than a money-grubbing business?

  1. It might be as a consequence of the current calipha having to down-grade the members of jamaat from 200 mill. to 80 mill.
-while he is aware the exact number is far far below even this….

-so to “cope” with this status quo, he only can balance expenses by turning up the “volume-control” on the remote control ….he know he is the MD in
Mirza and Sons Holding Chandaa Tight Limited

  2. Brother Khalid jazakallah khair for this post.

I’m not a person of numbers but it was the numbers the struck me and in particular the 1/3 maximum that could be paid by a ‘Moosi’. But what does the Noble Qur’an and Sunnah say about inheritance?

    Surah Al-Baqarah (2nd Chapter verse 180):

‘It is prescribed for you, when death approaches any of you, if he leaves wealth, that he makes a bequest to parents and next of kin, according to reasonable manners. (This is) a duty upon Al-Muttaqun (the pious).’

    Surah An-Nisa (4th Chapter verse 11):

‘Allah commands you as regards your children’s (inheritance): to the male, a portion equal to that of two females; if (there are) only daughters, two or more, their share is two-thirds of the inheritance; if only one, her share is half. For parents, a sixth share of inheritance to each if the deceased left children; if no children, and the parents are the (only) heirs, the mother has a third; if the deceased left brothers or (sisters), the mother has a sixth. (The distribution in all cases is) after the payment of legacies he may have bequethed or debts. You know not which of them, whether your parents or your children, are nearest to you in benefit; (these fixed shares) are ordained by Allah. And Allah is Ever All-Knower, All Wise.’

    Surah Al-Maidah (5th Chapter verse 176):

‘They ask you for a legal verdict. Say: “Allah directs (thus) about Al-Kalalah (those who leave neither descendants nor ascendants as heirs). If it is a man that dies leaving a sister, but no child, she shall have half the inheritance. If (such a deceased was) a woman, who left no child, her brother takes her inheritance. If there are two sisters, they shall have two-thirds of the inheritance; if there are brothers and sisters, the male will have twice the share of the female. (Thus) does Allah make clear to you (His Law) lest you go astray. And Allah is All-Knower of everything.”‘

There are a number of other verses relating to inheritance but the above should give one food for thought.

What does the Holy Prophet (pbuh) say about the divison of inheritance? The following should suffice:

The Prophet (pbuh) said, “Give the inheritance to its rightful recipients Whatever remains is to be given to the closest male relative (Bukhari,Muslim and Tirmidhi).

So where does this leave the ahmadi 1/3? I know some will say that it is only up to 1/3 and if 1/10 is paid then many of the ‘overlap’ will not occur. But if this is a ‘blessed scheme’ why is there the possibility for this overlap to occur?
